Downtime April 2nd-3rd

We are very sorry for the downtime and service interruptions that occurred on April 2nd and April 3rd. We know that there are countless developers around the world that rely on nuget.org being up and running all day every day, and we’re sorry that we let you down. We are working to improve our reliability.

After completing a new deployment on April 3rd, we published a blog post with details about what caused the downtime and what we've done to address it.

As part of the fix, we've deployed a brand new search implementation. We have drastically overhauled how we index packages and we hope you'll find that search relevance is significantly improved. You no longer need to choose your sort order or indicate whether or not prerelease packages are included. We always include prerelease packages in searches done on the website and we always sort by recent installs of the packages.

Thank you for your support,
Jeff Handley and the entire NuGet team

NuGet 2.8.1 Released

NuGet 2.8.1 was released on April 2nd with Windows Phone 8.1 support. For Visual Studio 2010, Visual Studio 2012 and Visual Studio 2013, upgrade now using the Visual Studio Extension Manager.

For details about what's in the release, read the release notes.

When you use NuGet to install a package, it copies the library files to your solution and automatically updates your project (add references, change config files, etc.). If you remove a package, NuGet reverses whatever changes it made so that no clutter is left.

Important Notice

You can develop your own package and share it via the NuGet Gallery. Read the documentation for more details on how to create and publish a package. If you don't plan on submitting a package, there's no need to register.
