ASPNetCorePermissionIdentity

ASP.NET Core Identity extension that adds permission- and claim-based authorization on top of roles.

Install

dotnet add package ASPNetCorePermissionIdentity --version 1.0.0

Usage (quick start)

  1. Register the services in Program.cs:
builder.Services.AddPermissionAuthorization();
  1. Seed permissions and roles (example):
var roleManager = app.Services.GetRequiredService<RoleManager<ApplicationRole>>();
await roleManager.SeedPermissionsAsync(typeof(AppPermissions));
  1. Protect endpoints with permissions:
[Authorize(Policy = "Permissions.Users.View")]
public IActionResult GetUsers() => Ok();

Notes

  • Works with net8.0 and ASP.NET Core Identity.
  • Customize permission constants in your own AppPermissions class.
  • MIT licensed. Contributions and issues welcome on GitHub.
