Addi-Data MSX-E NuGet Package
About
The Addi-Data MSX-E .NET 8+ SDK provides a complete SOAP API organized in progressive layers: from raw SOAP proxies to clean 1:1 wrappers, and a portfolio-aligned Device abstraction. It delivers a modern, async-first interface that scales from direct operation control to a unified, subsystem-driven architecture.
Supported devices:
- Analog :
- MSX-E3701
- MSX-E3011
- Digital :
- MSX-E1516
- Counting
- MSX-E1701
Key Concepts
The SDK is organized into three progressive layers, each building on the previous one to offer increasing abstraction and ease of use.
Architecture Layers
| Package | Level | What it gives you |
|---|---|---|
AddiData.MsxE |
2 | Device API: subsystem tree, whole-device snapshots, polling, streaming |
AddiData.MsxE.Soap |
1 | Thin 1:1 SOAP wrappers, typed errors, endpoint management |
AddiData.MsxE.Soap.Generated |
— | Generated WCF proxies for MSX-E SOAP communication. Not intended for direct use. |
Start with MSX-E .NET 8+ SDK
Requirements
- .NET 8 or later. The packages are multi-targeted for
net8.0,net9.0, andnet10.0. Projects targeting any of these frameworks can consume the packages - TCP reachability to the MSX-E device on port 5555 (SOAP Protocol) and port 8989 (streaming data server).
Install
The packages are available on nuget.org. After adding a project, run:
cd your_project/
# For .NET 9 SDK or earlier
dotnet add package AddiData.MsxE
# From .NET 10 SDK
dotnet package add AddiData.MsxE
Reference only AddiData.MsxE — it pulls in AddiData.MsxE.Soap and AddiData.MsxE.Soap.Generated automatically.
Note: Do not extract
.nupkgfiles for command-line installation — doing so will cause the install to fail.
Usage
using AddiData.MsxE;
// Acceptable IP address formats: X.X.X.X, user@X.X.X.X, X.X.X.X:port
await using var device = await DeviceDiscovery.GetDeviceFromIdAsync("X.X.X.X");
MsxeDeviceInformation info = device.GetDeviceInformation();
Console.WriteLine($"{info.ModuleType} @ {info.Hostname}");
MsxeSnapshot status = await device.ReadStatusAsync();
Console.WriteLine(string.Join(" ", status.Transducer!.RawValues));
Behind a corporate proxy
An MSX-E sits on the local network. If the host has a system proxy configured, it cannot route to the device and the call times out — turn the proxy off for the connection:
using AddiData.MsxE.Soap;
var options = new MsxeClientOptions { UseProxy = false };
await using var device = await DeviceDiscovery.GetDeviceFromIdAsync("X.X.X.X", options);
Run a sample - CLI
Available Samples :
| Module | Samples |
|---|---|
| MSX-E Common | connect_and_status |
| MSX-E3701 | msxe3701_calibration, msxe3701_live_polling, msxe3701_streaming_capture |
| MSX-E3011 | msxe3011_autorefresh, msxe3011_calibration |
| MSX-E1701 | msxe1701_digital_io, msxe1701_counters, msxe1701_streaming_capture |
| MSX-E1516 | msxe1516_digital_io, msxe1516_events, msxe1516_synchro_latch |
Once the installation is complete, you can run any sample from the command line:
dotnet run --project samples/sample_folder_name -- [host]
