Appulse.Transports.RabbitMQ
This package enables the Distributed Mode of Appulse, allowing you to decouple log capture from database persistence using RabbitMQ as the message broker.
Why Distributed Mode?
In a microservices architecture, having 10 different services writing directly to PostgreSQL creates DB connection exhaustion and duplicates dashboards.
By using Appulse.Transports.RabbitMQ:
- Microservices (Clients) capture traffic and publish messages to RabbitMQ. They do not need any database connections.
- A single Hub (Server) consumes messages from RabbitMQ, performs bulk inserts to PostgreSQL, and hosts the unified Dashboard.
Installation
dotnet add package Appulse.Transports.RabbitMQ
Configuration
On Microservices (Client)
Use AddAppulseClient to capture data, and configure RabbitMQ to publish.
builder.Services.AddAppulseClient()
.AddRabbitMQTransport(options =>
{
options.Hostname = "localhost";
options.UserName = "guest";
options.Password = "guest";
});
var app = builder.Build();
app.UseAppulseClient();
On the Central Hub (Server)
Use AddAppulseIngestion to consume data, and configure Postgres for storage.
builder.Services.AddAppulseIngestion()
.AddRabbitMQTransport("amqp://guest:guest@localhost:5672");
builder.Services.AddAppulsePostgres(builder.Configuration.GetConnectionString("AppulseDb"));
var app = builder.Build();
app.UseAppulse(); // Also mounts the dashboard
