Biota

Biota is an intentionally minimal .NET foundation for representing things as identified Forms with composition and retained state.

The project is exploring a small vocabulary from which game-specific behaviour can later be developed without imposing a universal game-object, quest, rendering, physics, or hosting model.

Current model

A Form currently consists of:

  • a stable FormId;
  • a FormComposition containing its traits; and
  • a FormState representing its current retained state.
using Biota;

IFormTrait[] traits =
[
    // Game-specific traits belong in the consuming game.
];

var form = new Form(
    new FormId("example:form:1"),
    new FormComposition(traits),
    new FormState());

The API is deliberately small. Observation, interest, reaction, persistence, rendering, and distributed hosting semantics will be introduced only when proved by concrete examples.
