  • Automatic Sync: Changes in your C# Enum are immediately reflected in Umbraco.
  • Domain Smart: One license covers your primary domain and all subdomains (dev., staging., etc.).
  • Unregistered Mode: Free to use for evaluation and development (with branding).
  • Multi-Select: Toggle between single and multiple selection in the configuration.
  • Localization: Full support for Umbraco Dictionary translations.

📦 Installation

Install the package via NuGet:

dotnet add package DJRetailing.Umbraco.Dropdown

⚙️ Setup

In your Program.cs (or where you configure your Umbraco services), add the following line to your AddUmbraco() chain:

builder.CreateUmbracoBuilder()
    .AddBackOffice()
    .AddWebsite()
    .AddComposers()
    .AddDJRDropdown() // <-- Registers the dropdown
    .Build();

🔑 Licensing & Configuration

Unregistered Mode (Default)

By default, the package runs in Unregistered Mode. It is fully functional (no time limit), but it will display a branding notice ("DJ Retailing Umbraco Dropdown") and a license link in the footer of the property editor within the Umbraco Backoffice.

Commercial License

To remove the branding, purchase a license key and add it to your appsettings.json.

Configuration Structure:

{
  "DJRetailing": {
    "Dropdown": {
      "LicenseKey": "DJR-UMB-X-XXXXX-XXX"
    }
  }
}

🚀 Usage

1. Choose your Source

You can provide options in two ways:

  • Option A (Enum Source): Define a standard C# Enum (e.g., MyProject.Models.Countries).
  • Option B (Simple Dropdown): Enter a simple list of strings directly in the Data Type configuration.
2. Create Data Type

Go to the Umbraco Settings, create a new Data Type, and select "Enum Dropdown" as the property editor.

3. Configure
  • Enum Dropdown: Enter the fully qualified name of your Enum.
  • Simple Dropdown: Enter the values separated by new line.
  • Allow multiple: In both cases. Enable this to allow selecting multiple options. Values will be stored as a semicolon-separated list.
4. Localization (Optional)

To translate values, add keys to your Umbraco Dictionary using your configured "Translation Prefix".

  • Pattern: [Prefix][Value]
  • Example: If your prefix is Country. and the value (Enum or Simple Dropdown) is DE, create a dictionary entry for Country.DE.

📜 License Types

A. Primary Domain License

B. Agency (Unlimited) License

Grants the right to use the software on an unlimited number of domains and projects owned or managed by the licensed organization (Agency/Company).
