ErrorNotifier.Extensions.Logging
Async Microsoft.Extensions.Logging provider for ErrorNotifier.
Install
dotnet add package ErrorNotifier.Extensions.Logging --version 1.0.2
Use an explicit version in production so deploys are reproducible. The current package is ErrorNotifier.Extensions.Logging version 1.0.2.
The public package page is https://errornotifier.com/docs/nuget/. It links the current .nupkg, checksum, and install commands. Mirror the package into your normal organization NuGet feed when you need an internal approval gate.
For a project file, pin the same version:
<PackageReference Include="ErrorNotifier.Extensions.Logging" Version="1.0.2" />
If your team downloads the .nupkg directly, place it in an approved local or private feed, then add that source before installing:
dotnet nuget add source C:\NuGet\ErrorNotifier -n ErrorNotifierLocal
dotnet add package ErrorNotifier.Extensions.Logging --version 1.0.2 --source ErrorNotifierLocal
Configure
{
"ErrorNotifier": {
"ApiKey": "ensk_xxx",
"Endpoint": "https://errornotifier.com/api/log",
"BatchSize": 100,
"QueueSize": 10000,
"FlushInterval": "00:00:05",
"MinimumLogLevel": "Warning"
}
}
using ErrorNotifier.Extensions.Logging;
var builder = WebApplication.CreateBuilder(args);
builder.Logging.AddErrorNotifier();
AddErrorNotifier() binds the ErrorNotifier section from configuration and registers one ILoggerProvider, one hosted background worker, IHttpClientFactory, the bounded log queue, and fallback file storage.
For explicit configuration:
builder.Logging.AddErrorNotifier(options =>
{
options.ApiKey = builder.Configuration["ErrorNotifier:ApiKey"] ?? "";
options.Endpoint = "https://errornotifier.com/api/log";
options.MinimumLogLevel = LogLevel.Warning;
});
The hosted ErrorNotifier endpoint is the default. Enterprise teams can bypass hosted ingestion by setting Endpoint to their own receiver, such as https://logs.example.com/wp-json/error-notifier/v1/log, or to a direct ingestion gateway that writes to their logging database.
Environment Variables
The .NET provider accepts the same ERRORNOTIFIER_* deployment variables used by the Python connection examples. Explicit .NET configuration still wins, but these variables make container, worker, and cross-language deployments consistent:
$env:ERRORNOTIFIER_SERVER_KEY = "ensk_your_server_secret_key"
$env:ERRORNOTIFIER_PROJECT_KEY = "enpk_your_public_project_key"
$env:ERRORNOTIFIER_ENDPOINT = "https://errornotifier.com/api/log"
$env:ERRORNOTIFIER_BASE_URL = "https://errornotifier.com"
$env:ERRORNOTIFIER_ENVIRONMENT = "production"
$env:ERRORNOTIFIER_RELEASE = "web-2026.06.09.1"
$env:ERRORNOTIFIER_SERVICE_NAME = "checkout-api"
export ERRORNOTIFIER_SERVER_KEY="ensk_your_server_secret_key"
export ERRORNOTIFIER_PROJECT_KEY="enpk_your_public_project_key"
export ERRORNOTIFIER_ENDPOINT="https://errornotifier.com/api/log"
export ERRORNOTIFIER_BASE_URL="https://errornotifier.com"
export ERRORNOTIFIER_ENVIRONMENT="production"
export ERRORNOTIFIER_RELEASE="web-2026.06.09.1"
export ERRORNOTIFIER_SERVICE_NAME="checkout-api"
Use ERRORNOTIFIER_SERVER_KEY for trusted .NET services. Use ERRORNOTIFIER_PROJECT_KEY for project-key based log ingestion when that is how the receiver is configured. Keys beginning with enpk_ are sent as X-ErrorNotifier-Key; other keys are sent as Authorization: Bearer ....
ERRORNOTIFIER_BASE_URL builds the WordPress REST store endpoint as /wp-json/errornotifier/v1/store. ERRORNOTIFIER_ENDPOINT is the exact endpoint and wins when both values are present.
Python Connection Parity
Python sites and .NET services can now share one deployment vocabulary:
| Purpose | Python variable | .NET variable |
|---|---|---|
| Public project key | ERRORNOTIFIER_PROJECT_KEY |
ERRORNOTIFIER_PROJECT_KEY |
| Server secret | ERRORNOTIFIER_SERVER_KEY |

| Base ErrorNotifier receiver | ERRORNOTIFIER_BASE_URL |

Production Quality Checklist
- Keep the package version pinned in application projects and update it intentionally during release work.
- Store
ApiKeyin user secrets, environment variables, Key Vault, or another secret manager; do not commit it to source. - Set
ServiceName,Environment, andReleaseso ErrorNotifier can group logs by application and deployment. - Start with
MinimumLogLevelatWarningfor production and lower it only when you need temporary diagnostics. - Leave the hosted endpoint at the default unless you have an enterprise/self-hosted receiver.
- Make sure the process can write to
FallbackDirectory; failed batches are saved there when transport is unavailable. - Register ErrorNotifier once per host. The extension uses
TryAdd*registrations, but one call keeps configuration easy to reason about.
Runtime Model
Log() only writes to a bounded System.Threading.Channels queue with DropOldest overflow behavior, then returns immediately. A registered BackgroundService drains the queue, batches entries, posts JSON through IHttpClientFactory, retries transient failures with exponential backoff and jitter, and writes failed batches to local fallback JSON files.
This package targets netstandard2.0, net8.0, and net10.0. The netstandard2.0 asset supports older compatible applications, while newer hosts get first-class .NET assets. It is intended for ASP.NET Core, worker services, and console apps built with the generic host.
