About FireForNet

FireForNet is a platform-agnostic, .NET-native Firebase Client SDK developed as part of the Circuids ecosystem. It provides a consistent Firebase client development experience across .NET application environments, while allowing platform-specific implementations where Firebase requires them.

About This Package

This package wires Firebase Messaging into .NET MAUI applications. UseMaui() delegates to the native platform package on mobile target frameworks:

FireForNet provides no FCM delivery transport for Windows: GMS IPC does not exist outside Android and the APNs path is Apple-only. The Windows delivery transport (WNS behind the FCM surface) is planned separately. The throw fires at UseMaui() call time so misconfiguration surfaces at startup, not at first message operation.

The package is a pure delegation layer with no MAUI framework dependency. Microsoft.Maui.Controls is excluded deliberately: its AndroidX pin chain conflicts with the Google Play Services binding chain on Android, and the version unification pin is an Android-specific dependency this package must not carry. Apps that combine Microsoft.Maui.Controls with the Play Services bindings on Android add the unification pin themselves (a normal requirement for GPS-binding apps):

Messaging requires Installations: call AddFirebaseInstallations() and configure a platform store (e.g. .UseMaui() from FireForNet.Firebase.Installations.Maui) before UseMaui() on Messaging.
