HatTrick.Configuration
A .NET 9 library for application configuration backed by JSON files and environment variables.
Full documentation | hattricklabs.com
Installation
dotnet add package HatTrick.Configuration
Namespace: HatTrick.Configuration
Quick Start
using HatTrick.Configuration;
public class AppSettings
{
public string ApiBaseUrl { get; set; }
public int TimeoutSeconds { get; set; }
}
var configMgr = JsonConfigManager.BuildInstance("default")
.Register<AppSettings>("app-settings.json")
.Build();
AppSettings settings = configMgr.Get<AppSettings>();
Console.WriteLine(settings.ApiBaseUrl);
Why HatTrick.Configuration
- One source per registration, no provider chain —
Register<T>("app-settings.json")reads exactly one file; no merge or override precedence to trace. - No DI container required —
BuildInstance/GetInstancework the same in a console app, a class library, or a service. - One builder shape, two sources — JSON files and environment variables share the same
BuildInstance→ register →Build()pattern. - Authenticated encryption, opt-in per registration — AES-256-GCM with PBKDF2-derived keys. A wrong key and tampered ciphertext both throw
CryptographicException. - Optimistic concurrency on writes —
Put<T>refuses a write if the on-disk content changed since the last read, rather than silently overwriting a concurrent edit. - Validated at startup — every registered type or variable is validated once at
Build(); failures aggregate into a singleConfigValidationException.
See the full documentation for core concepts, JSON configuration, environment variables, encryption, validation, hot reload, and the CLI tool.
