Jasinski.Shared

This is a library of classes, interfaces, extensions, and helper functions used in other Jasinski packages.

Extensions (Jasinski.Shared.Extensions namespace)

DateTime Extension Methods

  • FirstOfMonth: Returns the first day of the month for a given DateTime.

Exception Extension Methods

  • Recurse: Returns and error message constructed by recursively retrieves the inner exceptions of an exception, cleaning out extraneous messaging.

String Extension Methods

  • ToProperCase: Converts a string to proper case, capitalizing the first letter of each word.
  • AddSpaces: Takes a Proper-Cased variable name and adds a space before each capital letter. Very useful for enum values.

Helpers (Jasinski.Shared.Helpers namespace)

EnumHelper

  • GetDisplayValue: Returns the display value of an enum. Uses the [Display(Name="value")] attribute, if present; uses a string representation of the enum value (adding spaces, if specified) otherwise. Used when seeding values in the database.

  • GetItemsForDropDown: For use in dropdowns, returns a list of DisplayNameIdPair objects that correspond to the list of possible enum values.

Mapper

A light-weight mapper class that can be used to copy property values between two objects.
