Advanced Plugin Trace Log Finder

Advanced Plugin Trace Log Finder is an XrmToolBox tool for finding Dataverse Plugin Trace Logs quickly when you know the time window, target table, target plugin, error state, or a piece of text from the trace.

Features

  • Search Plugin Trace Logs by message block, exception details, or type name.
  • Filter by exact date and time window.
  • Filter by one or more target tables.
  • Filter by one or more registered plugins or workflow activities.
  • Show only logs that have exception details.
  • Choose between Quick Search and Deep Scan:
    • Quick Search asks Dataverse to filter text first, which returns fewer rows but can timeout on large trace text.
    • Deep Scan pages through logs locally, which gives better progress and cancellation for large data.
  • See progress while searching, including fetched, processed, and found counts.
  • Cancel long searches between Dataverse page requests.
  • Export visible results to CSV.

Usage

  1. Connect XrmToolBox to a Dataverse environment.
  2. Open Advanced Plugin Trace Log Finder.
  3. Enter a required From and To date/time window.
  4. Optionally enter search text and choose where to search.
  5. Optionally load and select target tables or target plugins.
  6. Choose Quick Search or Deep Scan.
  7. Select Search.

For best performance, use the narrowest time window that covers the issue you are investigating. For very large trace volumes, Deep Scan gives more responsive progress and cancellation.

  • XrmToolBox
  • A Dataverse environment with Plugin Trace Logs enabled
  • Permission to read the Plugin Trace Log table
