LevelUp.Hosting.Strategos

AppHost-only helper for provisioning the Strategos operational data fabric (ODF) on the lvlup-sw paved road. Referenced only by Aspire AppHost projects — it depends on Aspire.Hosting (and Aspire.Hosting.PostgreSQL) and is a sibling of LevelUp.Hosting. A packaged build-time guard fails the build if it is referenced from a non-AppHost project (IsAspireHost != true).

What it does

  • AddStrategosOdf(name) adds a Postgres server resource pinned to the pgvector/pgvector:pg17 image and, in run mode only, subscribes a ResourceReadyEvent hook that opens the resource's connection string with Npgsql and runs CREATE EXTENSION IF NOT EXISTS vector;. The hook is gated on ExecutionContext.IsPublishMode (skipped during publish — the migration is a run-time concern), is idempotent across a re-fired event (IF NOT EXISTS), and catches connection failures so a transient outage surfaces through Postgres's built-in health check rather than crashing the AppHost on an unobserved task. The returned resource already carries Aspire's built-in Postgres health check.

Ownership boundary

LevelUp.Hosting.* is AppHost-only and depends on Aspire.Hosting; LevelUp.ServiceDefaults.* is service-side and never depends on Aspire.Hosting. The two families are complementary and never merged — enforced by scripts/verify-package-boundaries.sh (CI) and the packaged IsAspireHost guard.
