Nutanix Hello World — Pipeline Test Slug

A minimal C# library used by the Nutanix Release Engineering team to validate the publishing pipeline that ships the real Nutanix Prism Central API SDKs to nuget.org.

⚠️ This is not a production SDK. If you arrived here looking for the Nutanix Prism Central API client libraries, see the Nutanix developer portal or the language-specific packages: Nutanix.PrismSDK, Nutanix.VmmSDK, Nutanix.ClustermgmtSDK, etc.

What this package is for

This package exercises the end-to-end Nutanix C# publishing pipeline — dev → preprod → prod — without consuming a real SDK build slot. It contains exactly one public type (Nutanix.HelloWorld.Greeter) whose only purpose is to emit a deterministic string that CI can assert against.

We use it to validate:

  • .nuspec rewriting (version, repository URL, license URL)
  • Signature application and NuGet validation at nuget.org
  • Prerelease tagging via the option-d scheme ({BASE}-{YYYYMMDD}.{NNNN}.rc)
  • README and LICENSE rendering on the nuget.org package page
  • Default-vs-prerelease visibility for stable consumers

Installation

Add the package to your project using either the dotnet CLI or a PackageReference entry in your .csproj:

dotnet add package Nutanix.HelloWorld --prerelease
<ItemGroup>
  <PackageReference Include="Nutanix.HelloWorld" Version="0.1.0-beta.1" />
</ItemGroup>

The --prerelease flag is required because every release of this package is intentionally tagged as a prerelease, so it never accidentally surfaces to stable-channel consumers of dotnet add package.

Usage

using Nutanix.HelloWorld;

var greeter = new Greeter();
Console.WriteLine(greeter.SayHello());
// → Nutanix Hello World Application for Pipeline Testing

That's the entire API surface. Greeter.SayHello() returns a constant string and has no side effects, dependencies, or configuration.

Requirements

  • .NET 6.0 or later

Versioning

This package follows SemVer 2.0 with the Nutanix preprod tagging scheme:

Channel Example version Visibility
prod 0.1.0-beta.1 Prerelease (opt-in via --prerelease)
preprod 0.1.0-20260513.231733.rc Prerelease, sorts below -beta.*
dev published to GitHub Packages, not nuget.org Internal

Because every published version is a prerelease, dotnet add package Nutanix.HelloWorld without --prerelease deliberately fails to resolve — the package is invisible to consumers who haven't opted into prereleases.
