Production-oriented XrmToolBox plugin for investigating Dataverse changes using multiple evidence sources:

  • Dataverse Audit history when available
  • Current metadata inventory
  • Solution and solution-component inventory
  • Local snapshots and snapshot-to-snapshot diffs
  • Clear confidence and provenance for every result
  • Explicit limitation/disclaimer panel at the bottom of results

IMPORTANT: If auditing was disabled when a data change happened and no prior snapshot/deployment evidence exists, Dataverse cannot reconstruct that historical record-level change. This tool never invents an actor, timestamp, old value, or audit event.

Build

Open EnvironmentChangeScanner.sln in Visual Studio 2022 with .NET Framework 4.8 Developer Pack installed. Restore NuGet packages and build Release.

The package requires an actual project URL and icon URL before public submission.

XrmToolBox publication

Create/publish the NuGet package, then register it in the XrmToolBox Tool Library. Package version must match assembly version and the package must contain the assembly below a Plugins folder.

Excel export - Table & File Changes

Version 2.2.2 adds a Table & File Changes worksheet to the Excel workbook. It includes all tables in the selected scope plus solution/file components, including web resources, plug-in assemblies/types/steps, workflows, views and forms when the environment exposes them. Each row includes component type, name, solution, last modified timestamp when available, object ID, managed state, version/state and evidence notes.

The sheet is evidence-oriented: a current modifiedon or version is not presented as proof of a historical change. Historical changes require Dataverse audit history or a captured baseline/snapshot.

v2.4.0 Solution Scoping

When a specific solution is selected, scan/audit/metadata/snapshot/export data is restricted to that solution and its related Entity/Table components. Entire Environment retains full-environment behavior.
