Tessellate.Service
The main entry point for the Tessellate microservice framework.
Installation
dotnet add package Tessellate.SDK
dotnet add package Tessellate.Messaging.RabbitMq
Quick start
1. Define your service
public class MyService : ITessellate
{
public void RegisterServices(IServiceCollection services)
{
// Register your custom services here
}
}
2. Bootstrap in Program.cs
await TessellateService<MyService>
.Initialise()
.WithModule<RabbitMqModule>() // Optional, but it's not a microservice without an AMQP transport!
.Run();
That's it. Any IConsumer<T> in the assembly is discovered and wired up automatically.
Sending messages
Inject IPublisher wherever you need to send:
public class MyConsumer(IPublisher publisher) : IConsumer<TriggerReport>
{
public async Task Consume(TriggerReport message)
{
await publisher.Publish(new ReportGenerated(message.ReportId));
}
}
Consuming messages
public class ReportGeneratedConsumer : IConsumer<ReportGenerated>
{
public async Task Consume(ReportGenerated message)
{
// handle the message
}
}
No registration required — the framework discovers it automatically.
Background services
public class HealthCheckService : IRecurringBackgroundService
{
public int IntervalMs => 30_000;
public async Task ExecuteAsync()
{
// runs every 30 seconds
}
}
Register it on the builder:
await TessellateService<MyService>
.Initialise()
.WithModule<RabbitMqModule>()
.AddBackgroundService<HealthCheckService>()
.Run();
Startup hooks
public class MyStartupHook(MyDbContext db) : IStartupHook
{
public async Task OnStartup()
{
await db.Database.MigrateAsync();
}
}
Register in your service module:
services.AddScoped<IStartupHook, MyStartupHook>();
Configuration
Configuration is read from the standard .NET configuration stack (appsettings.json, environment variables, etc). Access it via ISettings:
public class MyConsumer(ISettings settings) : IConsumer<MyMessage>
{
public Task Consume(MyMessage message)
{
var value = settings["MySection:MyKey"];
}
}
