Xune.PodcastIndex.FeedParser

Podcast RSS and Podcasting 2.0 feed parser for .NET.

Origin and attribution

This library is a C# port of Podcastindex-org/feedparser, originally written in Rust by the Podcast Index community. Parser behaviour is validated byte-for-byte against the upstream reference corpus (98 feed snapshots producing 7,358 reference JSON outputs) at upstream commit a690e15e.

This is an unofficial port. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or maintained by Podcast Index LLC. The upstream project's MIT licence is preserved in NOTICE.

Published by xune-software as part of the Xune podcast player ecosystem.

Status

Early development. API is not stable. Do not depend on specific release versions until 1.0.

Target

  • .NET 8+
  • Returns BCL types (string, long, int?, bool, Uri, TimeSpan?, DateTimeOffset?) — no domain value objects at the package seam.
  • Synchronous parse over Stream. Fetching, conditional GET, and caching are the consumer's responsibility.

What gets parsed

  • RSS 2.0 channel and item fields
  • Atom 1.0 (<feed> / <entry>) as a first-class alternative to RSS
  • iTunes podcast namespace (itunes:*)
  • Podcasting 2.0 namespace (podcast:*): transcript, chapters, funding, guid, locked, person, soundbite, value / valueRecipient, alternateEnclosure / source / integrity
  • HTML entity references inside feed content (&nbsp;, &copy;, etc.)
