BasicAuthenticationAnyPage allows the implementation of a middleware in the Http request pipeline of ASP.NET applications, it performs the display of a basic authentication form on specified pages.

About using the feature: Use the UseBasicAuthenticationForPage() extension method on the instance that implements IApplicationBuilder at ASP.NET application startup.

  • UseBasicAuthenticationForPage() has only 3 parameters, which are:

1 - path: A keyword that exists in the route on which the authentication form is to be activated.

2 - userName: The username to be compared with the "User" entry of the authentication form.

3 - password: A password to be compared with the "Password" entry of the authentication form.

Example of using the middleware considering that the "app" variable is an instance that implements "IApplicationBuilder":

In the example above, the middleware will insert a basic authentication form into any route that has the word "swagger", and the credentials are "developer1" as the username and "12345" as the password.
