Appulse.Capture

This module provides the middleware and interceptors for capturing HTTP traffic, application logs, and unhandled exceptions in ASP.NET Core applications.

Performance-First Design

Appulse.Capture is designed to be completely non-blocking:

  1. Zero I/O: It never talks to the database. All captured logs are pushed to an in-memory System.Threading.Channels structure.
  2. Low Allocation: Uses Microsoft.IO.RecyclableMemoryStream to capture large HTTP request and response bodies without allocating massive byte arrays on the Large Object Heap (LOH).
  3. Data Sanitization: Automatically masks sensitive headers (e.g., Authorization) and JSON fields before they are enqueued.

Usage

This package is rarely installed alone. It is included in the composition roots:

  • Appulse.AspNetCore (for monoliths)
  • Appulse.Client (for distributed architectures)

If you are building a custom pipeline, you can register it manually:

builder.Services.AddAppulseCapture();
// ...
app.UseAppulseHttpMiddleware();
app.UseAppulseExceptionHandler();
