Com.H.Net.Ssh
Wrapper to Renci.SshNet. Introduces minor new functionality (e.g. SFTP upload / download folders & subfolders, etc..)
Targets netstandard2.0 (.NET Framework 4.6.2+), net8.0, net9.0 and net10.0 from one package,
with the same sync and async API on every one of them.
Kindly visit the project's github page for documentation https://github.com/H7O/Com.H.Net.Ssh
Installation
dotnet add package Com.H.Net.Ssh
Usage
Here is a sample example
Com.H.Net.Ssh.SFtpClient sFtpClient =
new Com.H.Net.Ssh.SFtpClient("server_name_or_ip", 22, "user_id", "pwd");
// or you can use the constructor with a private key instead of a password
// new Com.H.Net.Ssh.SFtpClient("server_name_or_ip", 22,
// new Com.H.Net.Ssh.PrivateKeyFileSettings()
// {
// Path = @"C:\path\to\key.pem",
// Passphrase = "my passphrase"
// });
// single file upload (every method also has an async version, e.g. UploadAsync)
sFtpClient.Upload("c:/test/files_to_upload/some_file.txt",
"remote_folder/some_file.txt");
// single folder (and its subfolders) upload
sFtpClient.Upload("c:/test/files_to_upload/",
"remote_folder/");
// upload from input stream
sFtpClient.Upload(File.OpenRead("c:/test/files_to_upload/some_file.txt"),
"remote_folder/some_file.txt");
// download a file
sFtpClient.Download("remote_folder/some_file.txt",
"c:/test/downloaded_files/somefile.txt");
// download to an output stream
sFtpClient.Download("remote_folder/some_file.txt",
File.OpenWrite("c:/test/downloaded_files/somefile.txt"));
// download a folder (and its subfolders)
sFtpClient.Download("remote_folder/",
"c:/test/files_to_download/");
The private key should be of a classical format (not OpenSSH format). If you happen to have an OpenSSH based private key, you can convert it to classical using the following command:
ssh-keygen -p -f my_openssh_private_key.pem -m pem -P "my passphrase" -N "my passphrase" -O my_classic_private_key.pem
And if you don't have a passphrase, you can use the following command to convert your key:
ssh-keygen -p -f my_openssh_private_key.pem -m pem -P "" -N "" -O my_classic_private_key.pem

Single package for legacy and modern targets. The netstandard2.0 build (2.x line) and the
net8.0+ build (10.x line) are merged into one package targeting netstandard2.0, net8.0, net9.0 and net10.0,
so .NET Framework 4.6.2+ / .NET Standard 2.0 consumers now get the same API surface as .NET 8+ consumers.
The async methods previously exclusive to the 10.x line (ExistAsync, ExistsAsync, DownloadAsync,
DownloadAsStringAsync, DownloadAsStreamAsync, UploadAsync, DeleteAsync, ListFilesAsync, GetFileInfoAsync,
DisposeAsync) are now available on netstandard2.0 as well.
Note for 2.x users upgrading: Dispose() now calls GC.SuppressFinalize, and SFtpClient additionally
implements IAsyncDisposable. No existing member was removed or changed.
Dependencies are now open-ended ranges with raised floors, so that a consumer who references only
this package is not left resolving a flagged version they would otherwise have to pin themselves:
* SSH.NET floor is 2026.0.0, the first release carrying the fix for GHSA-q939-rpr3-3284 (arbitrary
file write via server-controlled filenames during ScpClient recursive download). This library
only uses SftpClient and never ScpClient, so the advisory was not reachable through its API, but
the transitive warning still reached consumers.
* Microsoft.Extensions.Logging.Abstractions floor is 10.0.11, raising the 8.0.3 that SSH.NET asks
for off the .NET 8 servicing line before it leaves support in November 2026. This also carries
Microsoft.Extensions.DependencyInjection.Abstractions from 8.0.2 to 10.0.11.
* Microsoft.Bcl.AsyncInterfaces floor is 10.0.11 (netstandard2.0 only).
* System.IO.Hashing floor is 10.0.11, and on the legacy path System.Formats.Asn1 and
Microsoft.Bcl.Cryptography are 10.0.11 as well.
Every package in the resulting graph resolves to its latest stable release, on all four targets,
and none has a known advisory against it.
One addition to note for .NET Framework and .NET Standard 2.0 consumers: the newer
Logging.Abstractions brings System.Diagnostics.DiagnosticSource into the graph, so that assembly
now ships alongside the rest. It has no known advisories.
