IMAP Email Trigger Plugin

DevCom Agentic Platform (DAP) plugin that adds an IMAP email trigger: poll a mailbox folder for new messages and fire agents with the message content.

Features

  • Mailbox polling trigger — per-agent IMAP credentials and folder selection; new messages invoke the agent.
  • Configurable start position — choose where the trigger begins reading when it is enabled or edited: new mail only, resume from the last processed message, or start from a specific date and time.
  • OAuth2 for Microsoft 365 / Outlook — built-in OAuth endpoint completes the Azure AD (Entra ID) consent flow so mailboxes with basic auth disabled still work.
  • Health check — reports mailbox connectivity on the host's plugin health endpoint.

Configuration

Plugin-wide settings (only needed for Microsoft/Outlook OAuth2):

Key Required Description
AzureTenantId no Azure AD (Entra ID) tenant ID
AzureClientId no Application (client) ID from the Azure app registration
AzureClientSecret no Client secret from the Azure app registration

IMAP server, credentials, and the folder to watch are configured on each agent's trigger config.

Per-agent trigger settings:

Key Values Description
StartFrom newMailOnly (default), lastProcessed, specificDateTime Where the trigger begins reading when an operator enables it or changes this setting. newMailOnly ignores everything already in the mailbox; lastProcessed continues from the last message the trigger handled, so mail that arrived while it was off is picked up too; specificDateTime starts at a chosen moment. Reconnects and service restarts always resume from the watermark regardless of this setting.
StartFromDateTime ISO date-time Only used when StartFrom is specificDateTime. Only mail delivered at or after this instant is processed; entered/shown in the operator's time zone, stored as UTC.

Installation

Install from the DAP admin Plugins page (searches the configured NuGet feed), or drop the package into the host's plugin directory.

Changelog

1.0.21 - 2026-08-31

  • DAP-309: configurable start position for the trigger. New per-agent trigger settings StartFrom (newMailOnly / lastProcessed / specificDateTime) and StartFromDateTime control where reading begins when an operator enables the trigger or edits the setting; reconnects and restarts still resume from the persisted watermark, so mail arriving during an outage is never skipped. specificDateTime cuts by the message's server delivery time (INTERNALDATE), not the Date: header. Any backlog above the resolved position is drained immediately instead of waiting for the next arrival or re-IDLE. The plugin now also exposes its position (ITriggerPositionSource) so the API can show where the trigger stands.

1.0.17 - 2026-08-26

  • DAP-298: trigger payload now includes inReplyToMessageId (the inbound email's RFC 2822 Message-ID, angle-bracket normalized) and threadId (the Gmail conversation id, hex-formatted, null on non-Gmail servers) — pass either straight into the Google Workspace plugin's gmail-send skill (threadId/inReplyToMessageId inputs, DAP-249) to reply on the original thread. Additive only; existing payload fields are unchanged. Upgrade this plugin on the target instance (Plugins → Discover → Upgrade) before the new fields appear in trigger payloads.

1.0.13 - 2026-06-17

  • fix(DAP-37, imap): make the polling supervisor durable and observable — decouple its lifetime from the transient start token, log loop start/exit, and surface a faulted supervisor task so a dead loop no longer requires a manual reload to diagnose
