Read and write SSRS report definitions — .rdl and .rdlc — as reports, losslessly, for DocWright.

What round-trips

  • RDL 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2016, plus .rdlc. The schema is the root element's namespace, and a save never changes it.
  • Everything else as well: elements and attributes DocWright does not model, designer and extension namespaces, unused namespace declarations, and the difference between a stated default and an omitted one.
  • Formatting is not kept. Output is canonical XML, so comments and insignificant whitespace are dropped.

Untrusted input

DTDs are prohibited, no external entity is ever fetched, and nesting depth and element count are bounded by default (ResourceLimits.MaxReportNestingDepth and MaxReportElementCount).

Not a document converter

This package reads a report as a report. It is unrelated to DocWright.Formats.Rdl, which exports a Word document as a report template; neither is a route to the other.

Requirements

.NET Framework 4.8, .NET Standard 2.0, .NET 8.0 or .NET 10.0. Depends on DocWright.Reporting; no third-party dependencies.
