LineTen.Messaging.Bus.AzureServiceBus

Azure Service Bus transport for LineTen messaging v3. Implements the transport seam defined in LineTen.Messaging.Abstractions. Register through LineTen.Messaging.DependencyInjection.

Registration

services.AddLineTenMessaging("service-name")
    .AddBus<OrdersBus>(b => b
        .UseAzureServiceBus(connectionString, new AzureServiceBusTransportOptions { /* optional */ })
        .WithSubscriptionLimits(warn: 1500, fail: 1900));

UseAzureServiceBus<TBus>(string connectionString, AzureServiceBusTransportOptions? options = null). The connection string must be non-empty; misconfiguration fails at host start.

Options

Option Default Purpose
MaxLockDuration 5 minutes Message lock renewal ceiling.
PrefetchCount 0 Processor prefetch.
ShutdownTimeout 30 seconds Drain window on stop.
LockRenewalWarningThreshold 0.5 Fraction of lock duration at which a renewal warning is logged.
SubscriptionLimits warn 1500 / fail 1900 Per-topic subscription-count alarm.
RetryOptions SDK defaults ServiceBusRetryOptions passed to the SDK client.
VerifyEntitiesOnStart true Reconcile and count subscriptions at start. Set false only against the emulator.

Behaviour

  • Publishes envelopes as ServiceBusMessage with MessageId, CorrelationId and application properties (MessageType, schema version, user properties, W3C trace context).
  • Subscriptions are named deterministically by SubscriptionNamer.Compute and their SQL filters reconciled at start.
  • Received messages are mapped back to the envelope; IMessageContext exposes MessageId, CorrelationId, DeliveryCount, EnqueuedAtUtc and user Properties. Trace-context keys are removed from Properties.
  • Dead-lettering moves the message to the entity's dead-letter sub-queue. The DLQ-side DeadLetterContext reads DeadLetterReason, DeadLetterErrorDescription, DeadLetterSource, DeliveryCount, EnqueuedTime and the preserved native CorrelationId.
  • Publish failures surface immediately as exceptions. No write-ahead buffering.

Emulator

Entities on the Azure Service Bus emulator are static, defined in its Config.json. Precompute the subscription names with SubscriptionNamer.Compute(serviceName, topic, messageTypeFqn, filterCanonicalForm) and set VerifyEntitiesOnStart = false. Do not derive names by hand; segments are sanitised and truncated to 16 characters and the suffix is the first 64 bits of a SHA-256.

Version notes

2.0.112

  • IMessageContext.CorrelationId populated from the native CorrelationId header of the received message.
  • DeadLetterContext.CorrelationId populated from the same header on the dead-letter sub-queue.
  • Absent or non-Guid header yields Guid.Empty; no value is fabricated.
