TableLayout

An implementation of the Table Layout algorithm described in HTML Automatic Table Layout by Kim Marriott, Peter Moulder, and Nathan Hurst.

Determines the appropriate column widths and row heights for an abstract table with the provided options for cell sizes in order to minimise the total height while still fitting within a desired width.

Does not do any sort of rendering of the resulting table, nor does it care what units are used for the dimensions.

This implementation does not yet include all the features described in the paper;

  • There is no built-in support for particular types of cell content (e.g. wrapped text or nested tables), only a generic interface that can be implemented with whatever cell content you wish.
  • There is no support for the 'specify column widths to be certain multiples of a common unknown' extension

These features may or may not be added in the future, depending on whether I find need for it in my own applications.
