PMR.LogManager

A simple logging wrapper library for lots of Serilog synks

There is up to 5 synks available today and much more to come. Stay tunned.

This library was created mainly to offer a rapid and effective way to enable good logging support to our projects here at Playmore Software.

I hope it may help someone else the same way it does here.

It is just a simple but effective way to use multiple logging sources and outputs for the Serilog library.

How to use it?

Console app

using PMR.LogManager;
using Serilog.Events;
using System;
using System.Configuration;

namespace ConsoleApp1
{
    internal class Program
    {
        private static void Main(string[] args)
        {
            var logPath = AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory + "Logs\\log-.log";
            var dbConn = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["logConn"].ConnectionString;

            var log =
                     Logging.Init()
                    .UseLogToConsole(LogEventLevel.Information)
                    .UseLogToWindows("PMRLOGTESTE", LogEventLevel.Warning)
                    .UseLogToDebug(LogEventLevel.Verbose)
                    .UseLogToFile(LogEventLevel.Verbose, logPath)
                    .UseLogToSqlServer(dbConn, "AppLogs", LogEventLevel.Verbose);

            try
            {
                log.Verbose("Verbose log created...");
                log.Debug("Debug log created...");
                log.Information("Information log created...");
                log.Warning("Warning log created...");
                log.Error("Error log created...");
                log.Fatal("Fatal log created...");

                ThrowException();

            }
            catch (Exception ex)
            {
                log.Fatal(ex, "A wild exception has appeared unexpectedly");
            }
            finally
            {
                Console.ReadLine();
            }
        }

        private static void ThrowException()
        {
            throw new OutOfMemoryException();
        }
    }
}

Aspnet Core Web App

Add the following code to the Program.cs file.

using Microsoft.AspNetCore;
using Microsoft.AspNetCore.Hosting;
using PMR.LogManager;
using Serilog;
using Serilog.Events;
using System;

namespace WebApplication1
{
    public class Program
    {
        public static void Main(string[] args)
        {
            var logPath = AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory + "Logs\\log-.log";
            var dbConn = "server=(local);database=db_integra;integrated security=SSPI;";

            Logging.SetAppName("My Very Cool WebApp");

            var log =
                     Logging.Init()
                    .UseAspNetCoreLog(LogEventLevel.Verbose)
                    .UseLogToConsole(LogEventLevel.Information)
                    .UseLogToWindows("PMRLOGTESTE", LogEventLevel.Warning)
                    .UseLogToDebug(LogEventLevel.Verbose)
                    .UseLogToFile(LogEventLevel.Verbose, logPath)
                    .UseLogToSqlServer(dbConn, "AppLogs", LogEventLevel.Verbose);

            CreateWebHostBuilder(args)
                .UseSerilog(log) // whatch out for this line. It's important
                .Build()
                .Run();
        }

        public static IWebHostBuilder CreateWebHostBuilder(string[] args) =>
            WebHost.CreateDefaultBuilder(args)
                .UseStartup<Startup>();
    }
