TX Text Control AI MCP Integration
Connect any Microsoft.Extensions.AI.IChatClient to a separately hosted
TX Text Control MCP document server. This package discovers tools, adapts schemas,
preserves server instructions and saves exported files without putting their
Base64 bytes into the model context.
It is an MCP client library, not the document server, model runtime or web UI.
Use TXTextControl.AI.McpServer to host document processing,
TXTextControl.AI for local inference, and TXTextControl.AI.AspNetCore for HTTP
workflows and browser integration.

Getting started
Requires .NET 8 and a reachable, properly licensed TX Text Control MCP server. Install from the feed carrying your preview:

The loopback example below is for local development only. Use authenticated HTTPS for deployments outside a trusted development machine.

Configure MCP transport authentication separately using the MCP client's HTTP
transport configuration. ExportBearerToken is specifically the credential for
artifact HTTP downloads; it does not authenticate tool discovery.
Calling document tools
Supply the tools and the trusted server's authoring policy to a client with function-invocation middleware:

Choose a model with suitable tool support. Tool availability is not user authorization. Filter tools and enforce permissions in the application/server. Server instructions from an approved server guide workflow; instructions inside uploaded documents must never authorize actions.
Retain the session ID returned by a successful create/load/edit across follow-up
requests. Do not create a new document to perform an edit or export.
Prefer inspect_document with bounded paging over get_text for long documents.
This package does not itself budget the model context, manage conversation
history, or create a download-button UI.
Exports
Export an already existing session directly, without an LLM call:

Supported normalized formats are tx, rtf, docx, pdf, html, md and txt.
Server capabilities still determine whether a conversion succeeds.
create_document_export enables direct HTTP transfer. For compatible older
servers, get_as_base64 can be invoked application-side as a fallback. By default
that legacy Base64 tool is hidden from the model, and a local save_document tool
is added when either export mechanism is available. The model sees only returned
file metadata, not the binary. The original direct-export tool can remain visible.
Downloads are bounded even without Content-Length. Writes use safe unique names; concurrent exports do not overwrite existing files. Failed/cancelled/truncated transfers are not published as completed files. Your application owns retention and serving the resulting private files to the authorized user.
Natural-language "PDF please" should refer to the current document. Exporting a
generated chat explanation is a separate application workflow; the ASP.NET Core
package provides answers/export for that purpose. DocumentExportIntent.TryParse
recognizes export intent but is not an authorization, document selector or proof
that a generated artifact exists.

Supply a HttpClient with redirects disabled. An initial same-origin check
cannot prevent a redirect-enabled client from first sending a request elsewhere.
Final-origin validation is defense in depth, not a substitute for this setting.
Use an approved fixed origin; do not turn arbitrary model-generated URLs into a
generic download/proxy capability.

DocumentExportResult is structured metadata for the saved file. Treat its local
Path as server-private, not a public download URL. Host a separately authorized
download route or use the ASP.NET Core artifact endpoint.
Security, lifecycle and troubleshooting
Dispose the MCP client and download HTTP client after every user of the tool set has finished. The tool set does not own those shared lifetimes and is not disposable. Disposing the client does not delete MCP document sessions; explicitly delete sessions or rely on server retention.

The application must enforce per-user session access, file ownership, resource quotas and cleanup. The package does not turn a shared MCP endpoint into a multi-tenant security boundary automatically.
License and support
Preview APIs may change before a stable release. Distributed by Text Control GmbH
under the Text Control AI Source Available License 1.0, included as
LICENSE.txt. Solutions must retain properly licensed TX Text Control products
as a core component. This is not an unrestricted open-source license. Commercial
SDKs, model weights, inference engines and other dependencies retain their own
licenses. Strong-name signing is assembly identity, not Apple notarization or a
NuGet package-signature guarantee.

Public C# reference
Source-derived public types, signatures, parameter defaults and DTO fields for this version. Bodies are omitted: these signatures are not a standalone compilable program. Concise initializers and JSON-name/required attributes are preserved. Workflow validation may require more than C# nullability alone. External types retain their package contracts. Public engine/service implementation types are advanced integration surfaces; prefer the documented registration and facade APIs for ordinary applications.
