Standard Windows desktop controls (such as standard DataGridView, WinForms ToolStrip, or legacy visual tree controls) suffer from critical performance bottlenecks:

  • Win32 Handle (HWND) Explosion: Complex views with nested panels, labels, and picture boxes consume hundreds of OS handles, causing severe flicker, lag, and crashing at the 10,000 OS handle limit.
  • Garbage Collection (GC) Pressure: Excessive boxing, formatting strings, and allocations during scrolling trigger frequent Gen 0/1/2 GC pauses, causing stutter and frame drops.
  • GDI Handle Churn: Recreating Font, Pen, and StringFormat instances inside OnPaint invokes Win32 CreateFontIndirectW, exhausting the OS GDI handle limit (10,000 handles) and spiking memory churn.
  • Out-Of-Memory on Big Data: Standard grids fail or freeze completely when attempting to load 1M to 10M rows.
